CLARE’s ladies footballers have been relegated from Division 2 of the Lidl National Football League.

Tyrone 3-17
Clare 1-15
Venue: Pearse Park, Longford

Although they were level with fifteen minutes on the clock, Tyrone were deserving of their win and in doing so relegated Clare to the third tier of the National League.

A rebounded Chloe Moloney goal was badly needed for Evan Talty’s charges. At the other end, Tyrone were thwarted twice by the Banner keeper Micaela Glynn but she was beaten in the 23rd minute when Grainne Rafferty slotted home a penalty.

By the twenty third minute, the Ulster side were ahead by four points. Clare tried hard to get back into the game. Moloney brought a fine save out of Sinead McVey in the 27th minute. Grainne Nolan came up with a point for Clare to leave the score at half-time, 1-10 to 1-7, in favour of Tyrone.

Clare managed to bring the deficit to two points in the early stages of the second half but that was as good as it got with Niamh Hughes and Chloe McCaffrey raiding for green flags.
