Clare has reported an additional 15 new cases of COVID-19.

Cases in the Banner County have increased for the past two days with the figures for Thursday marking 15 new cases.

Once again, Clare’s fourteen day incidence rate (170.0) per 100k remains below the national rate (196.4). The Ennis electoral area accounts for the highest amount of COVID-19 cases at present. On Thursday, UL Hospitals Group confirmed there had been an outbreak of the virus at Ennis Hospital but have failed to specify exactly how many cases have arisen as a result.

Nationally 499 additional cases are known with 175 of these in Dublin, 72 in Cork, 29 in Limerick, 26 in Mayo, 21 in Meath, 15 in Clare and the remaining 161 cases are spread across 18 other counties.

A further eight deaths related to the virus have been confirmed by the Department of Health bringing the death toll to 1,940. One death and seven cases have been de-notified by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

Latest hospital data from 2pm has detailed 24 hospitalisations over the last 24 hours. 292 individuals are being treated for Coronavirus in Irish hospitals with 37 of these in ICU.
