A YOUNG boy was airlifted from Ogonnelloe on Monday evening after colliding with a tractor.
The Clare Echo understands that the boy was riding his bicycle on the side of the L8192 and lost control which veered him straight in the direction of an oncoming tractor.
Serious injuries were sustained by the boy who had to be airlifted to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
From Galway, he was transported to Crumlin Children’s Hospital. The boy collided with the spikes of the tractor, the injuries from which required surgery and he now remains in a stable condition.
Emergency services responded and were heading in the direction of the incident after 18:00 on Monday evening.
According to a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, the boy remains in a stable condition.
Gardaí are investigating the road traffic collision which occurred on the L8192 Bealkelly, Ogonnnelloe. “A full forensic examination of the scene has been completed, and the road has since been reopened”.
