A MECHANICAL issue which resulted in the loss of water supply in Liscannor has been resolved.
Disruptions to water supply for households and businesses in parts of Liscannor including Ballysteen, Lislorkan, Dereen, Moymore and Ballycotton were experienced on Saturday and Sunday when huge crowds visited the area.
Uisce Éireann have confirmed that supply has been restored as of Monday. The majority of customers had water back by Sunday afternoon.
Dereen pumping station had been the subject of a mechanical issue which caused the loss in supply. An alternative water supply in the form of a tanker was made available at the grounds of Liscannor GAA over the weekend.
In July 2023, a new wastewater treatment plant was officially opened in Liscannor following a €7m investment. It ended the discharge of raw sewage into Liscannor Bay.
