UISCE Éireann crews are responding to a complex burst on a water main at the Sandfield Roundabout on Gort Road, which is affecting water supply to customers in the area this morning.
In a statement to The Clare Echo, the water provider said that repair crews were immediately mobilised and works on the complex burst are underway. The burst has been isolated, helping to minimise the impact on customers as much as possible. However, some businesses in the surrounding area may continue to experience disruptions to their water supply while repairs are ongoing.
Repairs works are currently expected to be completed by approximately 6pm this evening. Traffic management measures will be in place at the roundabout on the Gort Road and clearly signposted to ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public
“Every effort is being made to restore a full and reliable water supply as quickly as possible. We understand the inconvenience that an unplanned outage can cause, and we thank impacted customers for their understanding and patience while our crews work to repair the burst and restore normal water supply”, said Uisce Éireann operations manager Darragh Conneely.
Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal water supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
