A MAJOR BURST has impacted on water supply in Cooraclare and Kilrush.
Supply is not expected to return until 9pm on Sunday evening according to Uisce Éireann with alternative supplies to be made available on Sunday morning.
Uisce Éireann crews are working since 5pm on Saturday evening to restore a major burst in Kilrush which is impacting on supply in the town and wider parts of West Clare including Cooraclare.
Low water pressure and supply disruptions will be experienced by households and businesses in the locality as a result.
Darragh Conneely of Uisce Éireann said every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue”.
Works to repair the burst are estimated to be completed by 9pm tomorrow evening (Sunday).
To support customers in the Kilrush area, alternative water supplies will be in place from tomorrow morning, at Fahys Road, Drimna, Kilrush.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
