BURST WATER MAINS have hit Clare’s two biggest towns.
Ennis and Shannon currently have repair crews from Uisce Éireann attempting to restore water supply.
In Ennis, a water main supplying the Ennis water treatment plant is the subject of “complex repairs” which are to continue into the night on Monday. Crews had been onsite since Monday morning.
To support impacted customers, an alternative water supply will be available from 9am on Tuesday morning at Ennis Mart. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Uisce Éireann’s Darragh Conneely said crews are working tirelessly to restore normal service and minimise disruption. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage, and we thank customers for their support while repair works continue. Once repairs are complete, we would ask customers in the impacted areas to be mindful that it may take longer for normal supply to be fully restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.”
Since shortly before 9pm on Monday, crews have been responding to a burst water main in Shannon Town which has impacted on supply to customers in Shannon Town, Shannon Industrial Park and surrounding areas. Crews have been mobilised to site and are currently working to isolate the burst and begin repairs.
Conneely assured affected customers that crews will work as quickly as possible to repair the burst and restore supply. “We understand the inconvenience and frustration caused by unplanned outages, especially in warm weather and we wish to thank impacted customers for their patience as we work tonight to restore supply”.
